If you’d like to try scuba diving in Panglao island and either don’t have the time, or are unsure about committing to a full PADI Open Water course, then why not try the PADI Discover Diving. Just a half day introductory program, the Discover Scuba Diving course gives you the chance to test and use a full set of SCUBA equipment and take a full ocean dive.
We meet at 09:00am. After a short orientation, your instructor will give a short presentation on the basics of scuba diving equipment. Your Instructor will then go through some safe diving practices before briefing you for a short confined water session conducted in our swimming pool.
The confined water session takes around 30 minutes. Your Instructor will introduce some basic scuba skills you will use for the open water dive. You will have an opportunity to master these skills in our swimming pool (1-2 metres) before progressing to an open water dive site.
Once the confined water session is completed you will have time for some snack and coffee. Then we will board our dive boat. We conduct the open water dive at one of the coral reef dive sites.
Depending on the conditions this could be Danao located on the south of the Panglao island nearby the dive center, or Napaling located on the north of Panglao island, which is famous for sardines. Your instructor will brief you, go through pre-dive safety checks then we’ll enter the water for an underwater tour of the coral reef.
Usually we make shallow water entries so it’s a nice gradual decent and you’ll be feeling excited but quite comfortable as a result of your swimming pool session earlier in the day.
You can expect to see lots of coral species and many tropical fish species such as butterfly fish, angelfish, anemone fish, moray eels, wrasses, stingrays and more.
Following the dive we’ll return to the shore for a short rest, after which you’ll have the opportunity to make an optional second dive. The optional second dive is 1,750 PHP.
Upon completion of your Discover Scuba Diving experience, it can be used as a credit towards PADI Open Water Course. (This will take a further 2 to 2.5 days and you will be certified to dive to 18 metres anywhere worldwide.)
